We recently worked with Will at Rare Landscapes to redesign and replace our old paver patio, and the experience was outstanding from start to finish. Will created a beautiful patio design while also reusing our existing pavers, which helped us maintain our budget without sacrificing quality or appearance. What stood out most was how involved and communicative Will was throughout the entire project. Highly recommend Will and Rare Landscapes if you’re looking for creative design, professionalism, and great value.

We had a dead lawn after we bought the place in winter. Bill came in with his crew, removed the lawn, took out the tree blocking the front of our wonderful home and installed class 5 to store our truck and boat. Fantastic work. On time, responsive, great quality work, great price, nice and professional crew.
We had a great experience working with Bill and his team. Very professional work and the results were outstanding. Added a top level rock wall, modified existing steps to make safer and added more interesting curve and additional level, and replaced old stone walk way with nicely color contrasting pavers.
What Homeowners Say About Rare Landscapes
Planning a Backyard Transformation in Plymouth?
A pool, patio, kitchen, retaining wall, and landscape should not compete for space. Plan the full outdoor environment first, then build from a design that already accounts for how the pieces fit together.

Families Creating Complete Backyard Environments
Rare Landscapes designs outdoor living spaces for Plymouth families who want room for swimming, dining, cooking, gathering, and relaxing without turning the backyard into a series of disconnected zones.
Homeowners With Wooded Properties
Plymouth includes neighborhoods where mature trees and natural edges are an important part of the property. A landscape plan can use those existing features to shape privacy, views, shade, and outdoor room placement.
New & Custom Homeowners
For newer properties, planning the landscape early creates an opportunity to coordinate patios, pools, driveway areas, planting, lighting, and structures before one feature determines the layout of everything else.
Owners Updating Established Landscapes
Older patios, retaining walls, lawn areas, decks, and planting beds may no longer match how the family uses the property. A master plan helps determine what can stay, what should change, and what should be built next.
What We Consider When Designing Landscapes in Plymouth

Mature Trees, Shade & Privacy
Existing trees can influence where patios, pools, planting, and gathering areas make the most sense. We consider shade, sight lines, privacy, and how new outdoor spaces will sit within the established landscape.

Grade Changes & Usable Backyard Space
Changes in elevation can affect patios, walls, steps, lawns, and circulation. Retaining walls and terracing can sometimes help organize difficult areas and create more usable outdoor space when appropriate to the property.

Drainage Before Hardscape
Patios, pools, driveways, walls, and structures change how a site handles water. Drainage and grading should therefore be considered while the layout is being designed rather than addressed after the hardscape is complete.

Multi-Zone Outdoor Living
For larger Plymouth backyards, a successful plan may need separate areas for cooking, dining, poolside use, fire features, play, and quieter seating. Rare Landscapes uses 3D planning to understand those relationships before construction.
